This presentation describes the antennas work at the University of Kent into multiband antennas for broadcast and telematics systems. It includes printed fractal and spiral antennas suitable for broadcast signal reception. Two antennas designed for mobile vehicle telematics applications are described, based on PIFA and hybrid geometries. Both offer low profile and wide bandwidth operation at 900 MHz and 1800 MHz, with a VSWR of better than 1.7. The final antenna presented is a dual band patch antenna specifically designed for the Globalstar satellite telephone system at 1.6 GHz and 2.45 GHz. It also covers the Iridium band at 1.6GHz.
