The paper describes the procedure and results of wear resistance tests done on the quenched and tempered 30CrNiMo8, 39NiCrMo3 and 42CrMo4 steels. The chosen steels are suitable for artillery weapon parts production. All samples were quenched and tempered at 50 +/- 2 HRC. A portion of samples was subsequently hard-chrome plated, with hard-chrome thickness from 40 to 45 micron. The experiment tested the chosen steels resistance to adhesive, abrasive and erosive wear. The adhesive tribological pair was made of chosen steel and brass samples. The brass is used to produce the rotating band of an artillery projectile.
