This work describes the design of a high-speed current-mode analogue controller integrated circuit that implements general-purpose one-cycle control laws suited to buck, boost and buck-boost switching power converters. The use at circuit level of current-mode design methodology allows the extension of switching frequency operation margin as compared to previous existing design approaches. The proposed controller circuit is composed of externally linearized transconductors and current-mode integrators based on current conveyors, as well as a transimpedance comparator. System-level and full-transistor-level simulations for a CMOS 0.35 micron technology are presented that validate the functionality of the proposed one-cycle controller ASIC implementation up to 10 MHz, thus fitting the high-speed requirements supported by modern power MOSFETs technologies.
