A complex of auxiliary equipment for in-tube nondestructive testing of main gas pipelines (MGPs) via magnetic flaw detectors is described. Pilot and regular industrial use of a complex of pig flaw detectors and the equipment for in-tube inspection of main gas pipelines, use of all types of pigs for continual analysis of mechanical damage, analysis of the work of the detecting equipment, and comparison of the flaws detected by flaw detectors with real parameters found through the opening of pipelines during excavation have provided a wide array of practical data that have facilitated the development and design of better pig flaw detectors. Practical use has shown that qualitatively new designs and development of more reliable pig flaw detectors have substantially increased the reliability of in-tube nondestructive testing and have promoted great advances on a global scale in industrial tube inspection of main gas pipelines.
