Electricity-based fuels will play an important role in future mobility. Hydrogen, Methane, and Methanol are considered most suitable. But which material is the better fuel? To answer this question, a variety of aspects must be considered: The technical requirements, conversion efficiency, fuel storage method, and so on. The cost of production and integration into the existing infrastructure are of primary concern. Liquid chemical energy carrier have proved to be especially useful, particularly because they can be used in conventional internal combustion engines. Also, in the case of methanol, they are suitable for fuel cells.
