In order to attain high efficiency the reflectors in a Cassegrain system are to be shaped. This helps to improve the ability of energy source illuminated on the main reflector to be uniform while maintaining the phase coherence. To meet the stringent requirements of space communications many changes have been made by adopting suitable changes in the mathematical model based on geometrical optics. In this paper the author will find modifications which correspond to (i) including space attenuation factor, (ii) an adequate edge taper on the main dish, (iii) phase errors in the primary feed, (iv) avoiding central blockage and (v) newly, a method of analyzing the phase difference for shifting the phase-centers (i.e. from phase center used while shaping for high efficiency) on the axis. In short, as the reflectors are fixed the path lengths change and hence the phase for other feed-phase centers. This is necessitated for accomodating the band width (1:2) under consideration.
