NASA's Mission to Planet Earth requires a variety of space platforms to gather the information required for Man to develop an understanding of his home planet. One platform is the Geostationary Earth Observatory, which will contain several optical instruments for remote sensing of the environment. Phase A concept designs are completed for these instruments and preliminary techology issues have been defined.
