An integrated approach to hydrodynamic modeling of trailing cavity and viscous effects is described for arbitrary unsteady motions of underwater-launched missiles. An integrated boundary conditions concept is shown to be a powerful and practical method to mathematically enforce the dominant flow field characteristics in complex wave environments. The application of a functionalized load factor shape function, referenced to a basis function, provides a rather universal method to relate readily defined reference loads to predicted loads. The new computational approach and system provides good agreement with two widely different missile configurations without being reliant on empirical data.
