Ever since its inception, the diesel engine has found its application in the heavy duty field, for example, industrial power plants, marine propulsion, rail road locomotives, trucks, tractors, buses and farm equipments. Due to their high thermal efficiency leading to low fuel consumption the today's diesel engine is widely used. The ever increasing need for transportation and industrial growth, the use of diesel engine has increased exponentially in the last decade. Due to oil crisis, the emphasis to conserve petroleum-based fuels has provided the motivation for several studies on the development and testing of alternate fuels. Among these substitute fuels, the emulsions of diesel fuel with alcohols and water have been found to yield some beneficial effects.
