This paper demonstrates the use of multi-technology simulation, to analyze the performance and manufacturability of a practical mechatronic design. The system is evaluated as a whole, not isolated sections. This allows dynamic interactions among the mechanical and electronic elements to be analyzed in order to identify key components and parameters affecting performance and reliability. The method provides an estimate of manufacturing yield, and identifies ways to improve it, so that overall costs can be reduced. These techniques can be performed early in the design process and are applicable to a broad range of automotive systems.
