For selection of the desired speed, adjustment in 10 km/h steps simplifies resetting due to changed speed limits. The driver should be provided with adjustment possibilities for the distance during stationary ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control) following. The adjustment should be possible in a time gap range from 1 s (at high speeds and good street conditions) to more than 2 s (in situations with greater safety requirements). In addition, it was shown that there are often limitations which can almost be called natural, that limit the desired requirements for ideal performance. A consequence of these limitations is the following list of requirements for the ideal ACC sensor: range >/= 150 m, angle range >/= +/- 10 deg, angle accuracy </= 0.25 deg, antenna aperture </= 5 cm, transmitting power concentrated on the area of interest. Currently available sensors fulfill some of these requirements, but the authors do not know any which fulfill all of them.
