Time marching simulation of a hybrid bus is conducted using a range of engineering tools, involving either standard driving cycles, or cycles based on actual records of the speed versus time function. A review of these tools is presented, together with a discussion of a number of problems raised by the differences in the behavior of hybrid and conventional buses. Special focus is provided to the analysis of driving patterns, the influence of which is found to be much greater on hybrid than on conventional vehicles.
