Artificial intelligence (AI) has been used extensively over the past decade in various industries. Therefore, Industrial 5.0 will become the new generation's revolution. A few potential AI applications for Industry 5.0 can be found in different traffic surveillance systems. Massive amounts of sensor data can be analyzed using AI to optimize resource usage. By analyzing real‐time sensor data, the intelligent system has the capability to identify probable malfunctions in the equipment. Then, notify maintenance teams to take preventative measures before a breakdown occurs. In addition to the essential elements, an AI‐based smart traffic surveillance system for vehicles can also include predictive maintenance capabilities. Moreover, AI‐based traffic surveillance system can also be integrated with intelligent transportation systems (ITS) to provide real‐time traffic updates to drivers, alert them to potential hazards or incidents, and recommend alternate routes to avoid congestion. This integration with ITS can further improve the overall driving experience for commuters. Overall, AI‐based smart traffic surveillance systems possess the capacity to transform the transportation sector by enhancing traffic control, decreasing congestion, and improving road safety.
