Airborne wireless networks that are enabled by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) can provide cost‐effective and reliable wireless communications to support the use cases in future networks. The impact of the UAV density on the coverage and area spectral efficiency also should be researched. The UAV network can be seen as an airborne antenna that can be exploited for technologies such as millimeter‐wave communications, massive multiple‐input multiple‐output (MIMO), and 3D MIMO. Cache‐enabled airborne network where the popular content can be dynamically cached at the UAV while also tracking the mobility pattern of the users can improve both the quality of service and the quality of experience. UAVs integrated with cellular wireless networks can maximize the data rate, and improve the coverage and network capacity. The hard and high‐performance requirements of future heterogeneous cellular networks could be fulfilled by UAVs supporting different applications.
