One of the world community's top concerns is the instability of the traditional transportation system. The society and the environment are both impacted in a number of ways by the transportation system. The rise in traffic in metropolitan areas and environmental pollution are two examples of these consequences. The lack of acceptance of the public transportation sector is another key issue with traditional transportation. With these conditions in place, traditional transportation will become unstable, necessitating the establishment of green transportation (GT). This chapter begins by reviewing the development of GT. The concept of GT is further defined, and current transportation issues, such as traffic congestion and greenhouse gas emissions, are stated. There have been studies on a variety of subjects, including the difficulties of implementing GT. The proposed three‐step method of avoidance, change, and improvement is examined and debated with regard to the implementation of GT. The usage of technology, intelligence, and its effects on transportation have all been covered. The relationship between the various GT components is investigated and explored in the final section.
