Project of low-lift locks on Arkansas River provides locks 110 ft wide by 670 ft long with normal lifts ranging from 14 to 30 ft; results of tests of hydraulic system for these projects in 1 to 25-scale model are presented; 6-port and 8-port culvert intake manifolds were developed; tests of 74 sidewall port arrangements resulted in development of five port arrangements considered suitable for use at river low-life projects; analysis of data collected in low-life lock test program resulted in recommendations concerning design of sidewall port systems for 110- by 600-ft locks.
