Main objective of reconstruction was to provide two 3-lane roadways, each unobstructed by existing intermediate stiffening truss; outer truss was retained and topped by addition containing new posts, struts and eyebars; in floor system much of original steel is retained; cost of reconstruction was $3,317,536; work was done while traffic was partly maintained.
