A power management system for an electric vehicle is provided that maintains power supply to "always on" components and subsystems of various vehicles during vehicle non-use without requiring a low voltage battery to experience frequent charge/discharge cycles. The system uses a secondary DC/DC converter that has a lower output voltage and operates at a higher efficiency than a primary DC/DC converter. As a result of the system, the life of the low-voltage battery is extended, and the power consumption efficiency is improved, thereby minimizing mileage loss when the vehicle is parked.
