Provided is a battery control device for an electric vehicle, the battery control device being capable of reducing temporary deterioration of battery performance due to a temperature difference between a plurality of battery packs. A battery control device for an electric vehicle is mounted in an electric vehicle provided with a battery including a first battery pack and a second battery pack connected in parallel and storing power for travel, and a variable resistor electrically connected to the battery, the battery control device being provided with a controller for controlling the variable resistor. The controller executes a resistance adjustment process for adjusting the current per unit capacity of the first battery pack and the current per unit capacity of the second battery pack based on the difference between the temperature of the first battery pack and the temperature of the second battery pack, compared with a case in which the resistance adjustment process is not executed. The processing of the variable resistor is controlled in a nearly equal manner.
