The invention relates to a method for detecting a possible collision of a vehicle (V) with a moving object (O), comprising the steps: determining (S1) spatial positions (p) of the object (O) for a series of time points based on sensor data obtained by the vehicle (V); constructing (S2) an approximated trajectory (T) of the object (O) by approximating the spatial positions (p) of the object (O); and predicting (S3) a possible collision of the vehicle (V) with the object (O) based on the approximated trajectory (T) of the object (O) and/or based on a time-dependence of the approximated trajectory (T) of the object (O).
