PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an object detector capable of highly accurately detecting an obstacle even while a subject vehicle is running on a road having a sidewall.SOLUTION: A sidewall detection unit determines, when a Doppler speed is 0 in a generally lateral crosswise direction of a subject vehicle 200, a first reflection point R1_1 reflecting a transmitted wave is present, a reflection intensity of a first reflected wave component that is a reflected wave by the first reflection point is higher than a predetermined intensity, a second reflection point R1_2 reflecting the transmitted wave is present in an orientation backward of the first reflection point relative to the subject vehicle, and a reflection intensity of a second reflected wave component that is a reflected wave by the second reflection point is lower than that of the first reflected wave component, the subject vehicle 200 is running on a road having a sidewall W.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3

    【課題】自車両が側壁を有する道路を走行中でも、障害物を精度よく検出することができる物体検出装置を提供する。【解決手段】側壁検出部は、自車両200の略真横方向にドップラー速度が0であって、送信波を反射する第1反射点R1_1が存在し、当該第1反射点による反射波である第1の反射波成分の反射強度が所定の強度よりも強い場合に、当該第1の反射点より自車両に対して後方となる方位に、送信波を反射する第2反射点R1_2が存在し、当該第2反射点による反射波である第2の反射波成分の反射強度が第1の反射波成分と比較して弱いとき、自車両200が側壁Wを有する道路を走行していると判定する。【選択図】図3
