The present invention relates to an apparatus for controlling a vehicle based on a driver condition and a method thereof, and more specifically, to an apparatus for controlling a vehicle based on a driver condition, which is capable of preventing a collision with a preceding vehicle without driver′s discomfort by activating a smart cruise control (SCC) when the driver drives the vehicle without looking ahead for a predetermined time, and a method thereof. To this end, according to the present invention, an apparatus for controlling a vehicle based on a driver condition includes a driver condition monitoring unit for monitoring a driver status; an SCC system interworking unit for providing interface with a smart cruise control (SCC) system; and a control unit for transmitting an activation signal of the SCC system through the SCC system interworking unit when the driver state monitoring unit detects that the driver′s state is not normal.

    본 발명은 운전자 상태 기반의 차량 제어 장치 및 그 방법에 관한 것으로, 운전자가 일정시간 전방을 주시하지 않고 차량을 운전하는 경우에 SCC(Smart Cruise Control) 시스템을 활성화함으로써, 운전자에게 불쾌감을 주지 않으면서 선행차량과의 충돌을 방지할 수 있는 운전자 상태 기반의 차량 제어 장치 및 그 방법을 제공하고자 한다. 이를 위하여, 본 발명은 운전자 상태 기반의 차량 제어 장치에 있어서, 운전자의 상태를 감시하는 운전자 상태 감시부; SCC(Smart Cruise Control) 시스템과의 인터페이스를 제공하는 SCC 시스템 연동부; 및 상기 운전자 상태 감시부에 의해 운전자의 상태가 정상이 아님이 검출되면, 상기 SCC 시스템 연동부를 통해 SCC 시스템의 활성화신호를 전송하는 제어부를 포함한다.
