Based on a linear unified dynamic analysis, time simulations of the responses of a flexible ship hull travelling at 20 knots in a long crested irregular head seaway are calculated with the inclusion of contributions from slamming. The slamming transients are determined from existing theories and a comparison of the resultant responses at different positions on the hull are given both as real time simulations or as spectral density data in the frequency domain. The influence of dry hull structural damping on the responses is also discussed.
