Details of new rolling stock put into operation on Southern Railway's underground line between Waterloo and the Bank on Oct 28 1940, designed to obtain maximum amount of seating capacity consistent with comfort and allowing much greater standing space; 28 new coaches being supplied, 12 motor coaches and 16 trailer coaches; lighting; control equipment; tunnel telephone hand set carried in each driving cab for use in emergency.
