Study made to develop method of predicting vehicle behavior to improve safety of operation and functional design; mathematical model, set up for steady-state behavior of tractor, predicted orientation and stability of vehicle on idealized grass slopes; new data were taken on actual roadside slopes, to determine tire creep; various parameter values were used in computer analysis to study effects of tractor geometry, including drive and steer design possibilities; model was studied for different tractor- and mower-units, one of which was equipped with special tires; method can be applied to other vehicles.
