Influence of engine variables on hydrocarbon and carbon monoxide exhaust emissions was investigated under various operating conditions, such as idling, acceleration and deceleration, and road load; it was found that hydrocarbons were reduced with retardation of time and carbon monoxide is reduced by increasing air-fuel ratio; development and use of manifold air injection system are described.
