Interception of satellite, whether to inspect it, destroy it, or render it ineffective, is considered from standpoint of differential games as developed by R. Isaacs: two possible games are intercept and rendezvous; taking intercept game first, two variations are considered-fixed-time game in which payoff function is distance between vehicles at termination, and intercept is assumed to be inevitable (i.e., positions match at termination) and payoff is time to intercept; in both cases pursuer attempts to minimize payoffs and evader attempts to maximize it; analysis is extended to rendezvous, uncooperative and cooperative, with payoff of time to rendezvous.
