A pneumatic tire that reduces separation of carcass ply from internal/external core pieces (5i, 5o), and improves handling stability. A carcass ply radial direction inner end section is sandwiched between the internal/external core pieces (5i, 5o) without being folded back by the rotation of a bead core. The internal/external core pieces (5i, 5o) comprise spiral bodies of bead cord (10i, 10o) that have wound up into a spiral shape as a result of the rotation of the tire shaft core. In the internal core piece (5i), the final twisting direction of the bead cord (10i) is in the same direction as the winding direction of the tire shaft core rotation for the bead cord (10i) in the side surface view from the outside in the tire shaft direction. In the outside core piece (5o), the final twisting direction of the bead cord (10o) is in the opposite direction to the winding direction of the bead cord (10o).
