The invention discloses a method and device for automatically identifying crane conditions. The method comprises: obtaining a present luffing angle value of an auxiliary arm of a crane in real time; determining a present effective condition angle based on the present luffing angle value; determining a corresponding present condition code based on the present effective condition angle; showing the present condition code and correlative condition information to a user. The method and device for automatically identifying crane condition can determine whether the present conditions are effective in real time and show the determined effective conditions to the user when hoisting is in progress. So that the possibility of which actual working conditions appeared in manually selecting crane conditions is discrepant with the selected working conditions can be avoided effectively, the efficiency and safety of hoisting can be improved, and the operation performance of the crane can be improved observably.
