The invention provides an elevator free of falling and running-up accidents. The elevator comprises a steel wire rope (1), a tension sensor (2), guide rails (3), a speed measuring sensor (4), a car (5), guide shoes (6), car buffers (7), safety protection devices (8), a traction machine (12) and a control system. The control system further comprises an input panel (10), a programmable controller (11) and an alarm device (13) besides the sensors. The elevator has the beneficial effects that the structure is simple, necessary speed limiters or safety tongs in an existing elevator are not adopted, and the elevator falling and running-up accidents caused by breakage of the steel wire rope or overspeed or control system failures and the like cannot happen; when the elevator stops, the stress of the steel wire rope can be reduced; and the manufacturing, mounting and maintenance cost of the elevator is reduced, and wide market prospects are achieved.
