A floating device for ocean surface flow field monitoring comprises an upper half ellipsoid shell and a lower half ellipsoid shell which are connected in a sealed mode, a partition plate is arranged on the upper portion of the inner side of a hollow shell of the upper half ellipsoid shell, a signal transmitter and a storage battery are arranged on the partition plate, and the signal transmitter is electrically connected with the storage battery. The signal transmitter is wirelessly connected with a data processing platform, a threaded shaft is arranged in the center of the bottom of the inner side of the hollow shell of the lower half ellipsoid shell, a balancing weight is arranged on the threaded shaft, and a flow following control module is arranged on the outer side of the hollow shell of the lower half ellipsoid shell. Real-time position information is sent to the data processing platform through the signal transmitter, and the moving speed and direction of the floating equipment are calculated through the geographic information system of the data processing platform, so that the temporal and spatial change characteristics of the ocean surface flow field are accurately sensed, and the accuracy of surface ocean current monitoring is improved.
