The method comprises the following steps: dividing a target planning route into a plurality of planning road sections; on the basis of the power required for vehicle driving of each planned road section and the battery charge state of the initial position of each planned road section, comparing the size relationship between the power required for vehicle driving of each planned road section and the power value corresponding to the battery charge state of the initial position of each planned road section; and determining a selectable driving mode of each planned road section corresponding to the comparison result. According to the technical scheme provided by the embodiment of the invention, the corresponding selectable driving modes are selected in different planned road sections, and the engine energy consumption of each planned road section is controlled by switching the vehicle driving modes, so that the engine energy consumption of the whole target planned travel is reduced, and the effects of lowest engine energy consumption and optimal fuel economy of the engine are achieved.
