The method comprises the steps that the current vehicle speed, the current required torque and the current acceleration of a vehicle are obtained; based on the current vehicle speed, the current demand torque and the current acceleration, whether the vehicle has an unexpected acceleration condition or not is judged; and if the vehicle has the unexpected acceleration condition, determining a safety control mode of the vehicle according to the current vehicle speed, and performing safety control on the vehicle based on the safety control mode. Therefore, by collecting the real-time data of the vehicle, whether the vehicle has an unexpected acceleration phenomenon or not is judged. If unexpected acceleration of the vehicle is detected, the system can select a proper safety control mode according to the current vehicle speed, and necessary safety control is carried out on the vehicle according to the mode. The problems that in the prior art, the calculation complexity is high, and misjudgment is prone to occurring in misoperation or complex driving scenes are solved, and the driving safety is improved.
