PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing unit which improves the accuracy of lateral surface finishing processing of a support flange part on an outer wheel side, improves parallelism between a lateral surface of a hub flange and a lateral surface of a support flange of an outer wheel, removes the influences of circularity of an outer ring raceway surface, thickness deviation and falling, reduces surface run-out of a flange of the lateral surface on the outer side in the axial direction on the flange part of a hub shaft and prevents a brake judder.SOLUTION: A hub shaft 2 having a flange part 3 for attaching a wheel, inner rings 6, 7 to be externally fitted to a shaft part 4 of the hub shaft, an outer ring 8 having a support flange part 9 which is arranged coaxially with the axial part and on the radially outer side to be fastened to the vehicle body side, and rolling bodies 13 to be assembled between respective raceways opposite to each other of the inner ring and the outer ring are assembled, and thereafter, a lateral surface 3a of the outer board side of the flange part on the hub shaft and an outer circumferential surface 5a of a positioning cylinder part 5 are fastened and lathe-turing processing is performed to a lateral surface 9a of the support flange part 9 of the outer ring on which the vehicle body side is abutted while rotating the outer ring.

    【課題】外輪側の支持フランジ部の側面仕上げ加工の精度を向上させ、ハブフランジの側面と外輪の支持フランジの側面との平行度を向上させるとともに、外輪軌道面の真円度や偏肉、倒れの影響を除去し、ハブ軸のフランジ部における軸方向で外側の側面のフランジの面振れを低減して、ブレーキジャダを防止する。【解決手段】車輪を取り付けるフランジ部3を有するハブ軸2と、ハブ軸の軸部4に外嵌される内輪6,7と、軸部と同軸状で内輪の径方向外側に配され、車体側に固定される支持フランジ部9を有する外輪8と、内輪と外輪の夫々の相対向する軌道間に組み込まれる転動体13とを組み付けた後、ハブ軸におけるフランジ部のアウトボード側の側面3aと、位置決め筒部5の外周面5aを締め付け固定し、外輪を回転させつつ、車体側が当接する外輪の支持フランジ部9の側面9aに旋削加工を施した。【選択図】図1
