PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem where drive torque fundamentally required for preventing an over rotation of a rotary electric machine is limited, causing a driver to feel discomfort, the problem being associated with the case of a drive wheel idling.SOLUTION: A control apparatus is for use in a power transmission device TM that includes: a power distribution mechanism that has a first rotary element connected to an engine, a second rotary element connected to a rotor of a first rotary electric machine, and a third rotary element, and is capable of distributing power from the first rotary element to at least one of the second and third rotary elements, or from the second rotary element to at least one of the first and third rotary elements; a hydraulic coupling including an input shaft for connecting to the third rotary element and the rotor of the second rotary electric machine, and an output shaft for connecting to a drive wheel W-side of the vehicle; and a frictional engagement element capable of directly connecting between the input and output shaft sides of the hydraulic coupling. Furthermore, in the case of a rotation speed Nof the first rotary electric machine exceeding a speed threshold N, the control apparatus controls an operation of the frictional engagement element so that the direct connection state of the input and output shafts sides of the hydraulic coupling is disengaged.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
