The present invention relates to a large and heavy object turnover method and a turnover base structure. The turnover base structure is provided with base shafts (5b) at radial-directions on both ends of an outer peripheral face of a lower end of a casing (5a) of a large and heavy object (5), and a pair of turnover support bases (10) supporting the base shafts (5b) respectively, comprising: an erection support portion (11), a lower end portion of which is disposed closely on a ground face, and an erected upper end portion which extends upwards to a predetermined height; a shaft base portion (12) disposed on an upper portion of the erection support portion (11) on which the base shafts (5b) at radial-directions on both ends of the outer peripheral face the lower end of the casing (5a) of the large and heavy object (5); and an inclination support portion (13), an upper end portion of which is connected to an outside of the shaft base (12) and a lower end portion which extends to the ground face to be inclined to the outside opposite to the inside of the erection support portion (11) where the large and heavy object (5) is disposed, to support the shaft base (12). The turnover support base which supports the base shaft at the casing′s lower end of the large and heavy object is provided, and the casing′s upper end portion is turned over to the ground face using the lower end base shaft as a hinge shaft after completion of a facility work of the large and heavy object in a state where the casing′s upper end portion is suspended. Accordingly, turnover work can accurately be performed in a stable shaft support state of the turnover support base; is possible to improve work stability because only a casing′s upper end support crane is necessary; and is possible to reduce costs based on a reduction of the required number of cranes.
