A traveling support device has a plan unit configured to plan a driving mode of a vehicle assigned to each section dividing a driving path from a current position to a destination. The plan unit is configured to assign one driving mode among a first mode which does not maintain remaining energy of a battery of a vehicle with respect to a plurality of sections based on a traveling load related to each section and a second mode maintaining the remaining energy of the battery. The plan unit determines the altitude excessive change section where a change in altitude is not less than a predetermined value among the sections to preferentially assign the second mode to the altitude excessive change section.
