This article first studies the integration of interturn fault diagnosis and fault-tolerant (FT) control of permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) drive system. In this article, interturn fault is diagnosed by zero-sequence voltage component and the torque ripple due to interturn fault is reduced by the current injection-based FT control strategy. The main novelty of this article is that the injection currents for FT control are directly calculated based on the already obtained information during the fault diagnosis process, thus reducing the complexity of FT control and making interturn fault diagnosis and FT control convenient integration. Both the simulation and experimental results validate the effectiveness of the proposed integration method for the PMSM drive system.
