The paper deals with the incoming problems due to the new regulations expected in Italy for controlling the human exposure to the electric and magnetic fields, with particular attention to the railway environments. Reference is given to the fields generated from the fixed installations and inside the trains, to have a comparison between the measurable values and the limits foreseen by European recommandations and the abnormal restrictions presented by political parties and already adopted in some regional guidelines. It is considered the opportunity to refer strictly to the CE rules. The aim of this would be to create, in international terms, the maximum competition between the European and World countries with respect to electromagnetic emissions. Another benefit would be the interoperability of the rail traffic, as expected by the European directives. Beyond these references it will also be clearly considered the exposure of passengers and people at train stations, taking into account that the problem could involve all the world of the transport.
