The study analyzes four alternative technologies: a BART-like rapid rail technology, conventional urban bus service and two forms of exclusive lane bus service. The emphasis of the network analysis is on the peak period, although examination of the behavior of the analysis under a wide variety of service environmental conditions is performed. Two types of pricing assumptions are employed, pricing at marginal generalized cost, and pricing at preceived cost, which is as near as possible to extant pricing policies and individual perceptions of non-monetary costs.
