This study, conducted for the Port of Durres Authority by Moffat and Nichol International, examines the feasibility of a Multi-Modal container facility along Corridor 8 of the TRACECA Program. Phase I included a Field Mission, Market Forecast and Trade Model for Corridor 8 and the Port of Durres, a Transport Economics Analysis, and the development of a Plan of Action for the second phase. Phase II includes Terminal Planning and Analysis for the Multi-Modal Terminal, an Analysis of existing Terminal Operations, Conceptual Engineering for the new facility, as well as a Financial Analysis, Social and Environmental Impact Assessment, and Institutional Assessment of the proposed operation. The U.S. export potential for this project is approximately 53 million USD and includes ship unloaders, ship/barge loaders, transfer conveyors, elevating equipment, truck platform scales, and electrical transformers and switchgears.
