An use of skewly ended rails for building railway tracks may eliminate not only the wear of the rail ends but also noises during the train run. After a geometric modelling the oblique gap between rails (maximum perpendicular width 10.5 mm), the optimum rail pointing angle was found 15 deg of angle to 30 deg of angle. Additional small bevels on the pointed ends of the running rail surfaces (1 deg of angle to 3 deg of angle, 10 mm to 25 mm in length) were recommended to improve the wheel motion fluidity.
