Polyurethane adhesives, especially reactive 2-part water-based dispersions or reactive hotmelt systems, are well-known as adhesives for lamination processes in automotive industry to get decorative vehicle interior parts. In practice, a brought range of substrates are laminated with foils, foamed-back PVC, or polyolefin. Using 2-part dispersions a few limitations and weak points must be acknowledged. Addition and mixture of the curing component has to be done with care, pot-life and open-time of the mixture must be recognized. The development of a 1-part latent-reactive polyurethane adhesive solves the described disadvantages. Because of a 1-part system with no pot-life and no open time, a pre-coating of the adhesives on substrates is possible. Latent-reactive films are block-free, a release-liner is not necessary. As a result, the adhesive application and the laminating process can be separated. The adhesion properties of latent-reactive adhesives are equal to the properties of 2-part adhesives. Simplification of the lamination process leads to waste and cost reduction.
