With regard to environmental reasons, the automobile industry is strongly encouraged to reduce the fuel consumption. Apart from modification of the aerodynamics, the rolling resistance and the propulsion technology, above all weight reduction causes a significant decrease of the fuel consumption. Therefore magnesium represents an ideal lightweight alternative for automotive constructions as well as other weight‐critical applications, e.g. highly accelerated tool systems [1].
