Interconnected modern multi‐energy networks and intelligent transportation systems can play a significant role in promoting a green economy and sustainable development. On the other hand, intelligent transportation systems use technology to improve the efficiency and safety of transportation while reducing the carbon footprint. The automobile industry plays a vital role in the country's economy, and in the present scenario, EVs are the recent technological development in this field. Many countries are working to improve the design and control mechanism of EVs. This chapter presents a review of the different aspects of EVs, including the design and control features of EVs, in a comprehensive way. Further characterization of EV battery and reliability analysis, location and design assessment of an EV charging station, and worldwide policy towards the EV are key features of this chapter. The chapter shows that several technological developments are required to grow the EV market and create a pollution‐free environment.
