To provide a crawler type traveling body which enhances the traveling stability of a traveling device.SOLUTION: A crawler type traveling body 10 includes: a crawler belt 11; a drive wheel 13 which incorporates an in-wheel motor and applies driving force to the crawler belt 11; at least two rolling wheels 15a, 15b which are disposed below the drive wheel 13; and a tensioner 25 which is connected to a motor shaft (an example of a drive shaft) of the in-wheel motor and applies tension to the crawler belt 11 by pressing the drive wheel 13 against the crawler belt 11.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
