Dimensions and speed chosen are those for average ocean-going cargo vessel; vessel can be made "standard" or "patent" design in that three-, four-, six-hold or machinery three-quarters aft versions are easily evolved, point being that whatever final size, resultant cargo capacities will always be greater than those for ship of equal size and speed; after knuckle is sited below second deck; long "monkey" forecastle is adopted with knuckle at second deck; suggestions also cover machinery, accommodation, cargo handling, etc; plan and body lines are shown for ship with 913,000 cu ft molded capacity (grain) excluding hatch coamings.
