The invention relates to the field of exhaust systems, and discloses an engine waste heat utilization method based on an exhaust system, which comprises the following steps: S1, building an engine waste heat utilization system; s2, when the engine works and the environment outside the vehicle is in a low-temperature state, the management information module sends heating information to the control module; s3, after the control module receives the heating information, an electronic water pump and an air blower are started to work; and S4, the exhaust and heat exchange module conducts convection and radiation heat exchange, so that the temperature of the outer surface and the inner wall face of the heat exchange structure is increased, and cooling liquid is driven to be heated. By constructing the innovative engine waste heat utilization system and method, a large amount of heat energy which is originally lost through an exhaust system is effectively recycled. Particularly, a unique heat exchange module is adopted, heat energy in an exhaust system is transmitted to cooling liquid, warm air is finally provided for a passenger compartment through a series of heat exchange processes, the energy utilization efficiency is remarkably improved, and energy waste is reduced.
