This hexapod robot, which is designed for security patrolling, features strong terrain adaptability and has many functions. It is mostly used in environment like neighborhood communities, factories, military zones, natural habitats etc., where environment detection and various alarms are needed. The main body is divided into three segments. Each segment is connected by a spherical hinge with another section. They are all have two degrees of freedom due to the installation of driving motors. We designed a new kind of wheel called the OS-shaped wheel, the "0" mode is used for fast traveling on level ground, and the "S" mode is used to go across lower obstacles. The OS-shaped wheels can be switched automatically or manually.
